The MEPR Agency extends a hands-on learning opportunity for current college students, recent graduates and career-transitioning professionals in public relations, event planning, and brand management

NASHVILLE, TN --The MEPR Agency, a Nashville-based public relations agency, is launching the MEntorship PRoject ™, an interactive and comprehensive three-month mentorship program paired with a hands-on and cumulative three-month internship.  The class will begin September 11th and the application process is open to current college students, recent graduates, and transitioning professionals who have aspirations of a career in public relations.  Hosted at COLAB Nashville (, the program will be a breeding ground for collaborative learning and co-working.

“Our agency’s focus with any project is to be an asset to the community and to educate those around us,” shares Creative Director of MEPR, Kia Jarmon.  She goes on to say, “As we began planning for our company’s next phase the MEntorship PRoject ™ was a natural addition because it tied together both our love for Public Relations with our desire to educate the people of the community.”

Led by Jarmon, the project is a hybrid of class-room teachings and real-life experience.  The first phase of the program, The Project, will be a three month mentorship where Jarmon, along with other PR professionals, media, social media gurus, event planners and marketers, will guide the class in an intensive curriculum.  Highlighting the fundamentals of public relations, brand management, and event planning, the session will provide tangible information with topics like the basics of PR, interaction & engagement through social media, event planning 101, and effectively managing a brand, among others.  The overall compass of the course is for budding flacks to engage in innovative learning where they will be presented with a challenge and encouraged to implement a solution.

Upon completion of the classroom portion, students will be prepared for an aggressive apprentice-style internship known as The Agency.  The aspiring professionals will meet with a Middle Tennessee non-profit or business and layout the plan for a three-month campaign.  Equipped with the previous classroom knowledge and under the leadership of The MEPR Agency and other industry professionals as mentors, the students will spend their time developing and implementing a plan that will work engage the community, re-develop a brand, create awareness, launch a product, or foster new relationships with the media.   At the completion of their internship, students will present their results to the client.

The MEntorship PRoject ™ will begin Saturday September 11th and will be housed at COLAB Nashville, Nashville’s new collaborative/co-working facility.
