Art Is The Cure is an on-going series to encourage Nashville to participate in the arts and learn more about diseases and causes that affect our community Nashville, TN—Local event producers and philanthropists introduce a new series, Art Is The Cure, combining local artists and area non-profits in an effort to raise funds and awareness surrounding diseases and causes that are affecting the Nashville community. The kick-off for Art Is The Cure will take place today, Tuesday September 7 from 5-8pm at McFadden’s Restaurant (134 2nd Avenue North-Nashville) to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF).
Sharica Smallwood of the Social Butterfly PR & Events and Kia Jarmon of The MEPR Agency created the Art Is The Cure series as a result of their passion for art and desire to educate the community. The PR and event producing team were recently selected by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of Nashville’s Top 30 Under 30, and while planning their fundraising event the idea for Art Is The Cure was sparked. “We both are truly passionate about the arts and love planning events that will inspire and engage the community. We hope that Art Is The Cure will be the type of event that guests will leave and feel they have made an impact,” shares Smallwood.
Smallwood and Jarmon have spent the past 18 months producing social fundraisers and initiatives for local organizations. Most recently the team produced Sexy for the Cure, the Sex and the City 2 movie premiere which benefited Breast Cancer organization, Women Rock for the Cure. Prior to that the duo with Hunter’s Lane High School students on the Prom Solution, where they collected 100+ dresses, shoes, and accessories for the high-school students to attend prom. Previously they worked with Nashville Cares on their annual Dining Out For Life campaign which they hosted at Cabana with guest DJ Eddie George. Currently, the agency partners are working with the national social organization, the Little Black Dress Club, to produce Casino Couture to benefit the Mary Parrish Center, a residential facility for women and children affected by domestic violence.
