Alkebu-Lan Images Celebrates 25 Years
“Celebrating Our Local Authors-Read About It!”
Nashville, TN. Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore, an independent book store that focuses on African-American history, education, self help and spirituality, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary with a special book fair.
The event will take place, Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet School in Nashville, located at 613 17th Avenue North. It is a celebration of authors, Come and Read about them! The event is free and open to the public.
“The 25th anniversary celebration will be an opportunity to promote literacy among the African American community and expose the availability of books as well as the opportunity to meet local authors,” said Yusef Harris, owner of Alkebu-Lan Images Bookstore. For Alkebu-Lan , this event presents the opportunity to further our mission of being a resource of cultural and educational materials for the community.”
In addition to the focus on local authors, scholarships will be presented to students who participated in an essay contest. Students wrote on the specific topic, “Why is a college education important to achieving my career goals.” Winners will receive scholarship prizes ranging from $100-$500.
There are 25-plus authors invited to participate in the event in honor of the 25 years of service Alkebu-Lan has extended to the Nashville community. There will be entertainment and book signings and presentations by the authors.
