The Mentorship Project gives a hands-on learning experience to the next generation of PR professionals

NASHVILLE, TN (August 29, 2011) –Nashville boutique PR agency, The MEPR Agency, is preparing for its second session of the Mentorship Project™.  The 12-week session mentors aspiring PR professionals with the hands-on, practical application of public relations and its sub genres.   The program begin Saturday September 10th and is hosted at business hatchery, COLAB Nashville (nashville.colabusa.com).

“Continuing education is a foundational part of our company,” shares Lead Mentor and Creative Director of MEPR, Kia Jarmon.  She goes on to say, “The Mentorship Project is a part of our signature programs and is an effort to give a younger generation realistic tools into the world of PR.  Often, prior to the program they have only received the theory; we introduce them to the practice.”

Led by Jarmon and an impressive list of other PR professionals, the program is a hybrid of classroom teachings and real-life experience. The Project serves as the classroom portion and will highlight the fundamentals of the industry providing tangible insight into areas including the basics of PR, Social Media, Special Event Management, Media Relations, Relationship Management, PR is more than press releases, branding and so much more.

During each session, mentees will participate in The Agency, a student run PR firm.  They are presented with a non-profit or small business client and are challenged to work as a group to execute a PR campaign based on the clients needs. Session participants will spend their time developing and implementing a plan that will work to engage the community, re-develop a brand, create awareness, launch a product, or foster new relationships with the media.   At the completion of their internship, mentees will present their results to the client.

The Mentorship Project™  begins on Saturday September 10th at COLAB Nashville.
