Kia Jarmon wins entrepreneurial award for her influence in public relations and community

Nashville, TN (February 15, 2012)— Entrepreneur and community leader Kia Jarmon, of The MEPR Agency, was awarded the Nashville Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award in the Entrepreneur category Thursday February 9th at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.

The annual award, given by the business publication, is a designation given to women who are making contributions within their community and career.  Out of hundreds of nominations NBJ named 32 finalists in the following categories: Company CEO and President, Company Executive, Community Supporter, Entrepreneur, Inspiration and Mentor, Trailblazer, Dynamic Duo, Public Policy, and Nonprofit Leadership.  The winners from each category were announced at the luncheon.

“Not only is Kia making trailblazing feats in the area of public relations, she’s reaching back through her work with non-profits, helping to improve the community while supporting the dreams of others, a true “Woman of Influence,” shares Ta-Tanisha Thomas, editor of TheQueensCastle.net.

Kia serves on the YWCA Junior Board, the Tennessean Advisory Board, and is a partner with the Pearl Cohn Entertainment Magnet School board.

“It is a great honor to have been selected for the Women of Influence Award.  It is humbling to know that my work has been inspiring to someone along the way,” said Jarmon.  “I particularly hold this award dear to me because it will create a path for other young women entrepreneurs to be of influence.”

Along with her work in public relations, she also mentors aspiring PR professionals and speaks on entrepreneurship and leading a balanced life.  Kia is currently working on a book entitled ”Learn How to Be Selfish: a guide to being selfish so the selfless moments count”.
