SEAs makes an impact on the city of Memphis with the 9th Annual gathering

MEMPHIS, TN (March 26, 2012)--- This weekend, March 30-April 2 the Southern Entertainment Awards & Conference will converge in the heart of downtown Memphis for the ninth annual event.  The weekend brings together the most influential, hardest working, and newest crop of talented individuals.  As one of the most recognizable events in the South, the SEAs mixes fashion with music, provides education during interactive panel sessions, and concludes by recognizing more than 30 individuals representing the industry’s new breed and veterans.

The weekend will begin on Friday March 30 with the annual SEA Record Pool and Showcase sponsored by Status Vodka.  The showcase provides a platform for emerging talent, judged by industry heavyweights and an opportunity to compete for the final performance spot during the awards show.  The evening will conclude at the Welcome to Memphis V party.  All events will take place at Zodiac Lounge.

From 9am until 5pm the SEA Industry Insight Conference will take place at the Downtown Marriott. Each year the halls are buzzing as peers from every level of the industry are networking and gaining knowledge at the industry panels.  This years panels will include four key conversations to take a product from thought to the market with: Business – “Putting Together The Team For The Dream”, Product – “Give The People What They Want / Need”, Marketing & PR – “From Word Of Mouth To The Entire South”, and “From An Artist To An Entertainer: Don’t Just Show Up, Show Out!”.

Conference attendees and Memphis fashion enthusiasts will head to the Balinese Ballroom for the annual fashion  event, Urban Couture.  For the past couple of years the SEAs has recognized the bridge between music and fashion, producing a rip the runway inspired fashion show.  “The urban fashion movement has always included music and the relationship between the two is a welcomed compliment.  We are excited to have two new producers this year that will breathe new energy into the show,” shares co-founder Janiro Hawkins.

The conclusion of the weekend will include with the ninth annual awards presentation, co-hosted by Memphis’s own 97.1 radio personality Big Sue and long-time host Solo in the 2,000-seater Cannon Center.  The show will open up with Memphis natives Gangsta Boo and producer Drumma Boy.  Performances by American Idol contestant Ashthon Jones, famed producer Shannon Sanders, Trae Da Truth of T.I.’s Grand Hustle, and many more will be sprinkled through 30+ awards in categories recognizing media, DJs, artists, models, and industry executives. The evening will be celebrated with the official after party at Senses Nightclub.
