Nashville, TN (July 23, 2012)—Nashville Community Education will kick off the fall line up of classes with its annual Open House August 11 from 9am to noon, in front of the Cohn Adult Learning Center, 4805 Park Avenue, Nashville 37209.
The Open House will include music and give-aways by radio partner Mix 92.9, face-painting and kid-friendly entertainment, and an array of food from local food truck vendors. Participants will also learn more about the program, view the new catalog, meet instructors, and even sign up for classes.
Each semester offers 50 to 75 inexpensive classes in Health & Fitness, Foreign Languages, Arts & Crafts, Business & Career Development, Home & Garden, and Music & Dance. Highlights for the Fall include Couponing 101 & 102 with author and coupon queen, Monika Bourgeois-Moore popular computer classes like Microsoft Office; and The People’s Law School, in partnership with the Legal Aid Society of Middle TN and the Cumberlands, a 10-week free program dedicated to legal topics like Family Law, the Facts about Healthcare Reform, and Renters’ Rights, to name a few. Courses range from $20 to $80 and can be a one-day workshop or 12 week class.
In operation since the 70s Community Education has been committed to serving as a gateway of information for the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County. Over the past two years, under the direction of Executive Director Lovette Curry, Esq. the program has tripled its revenue and is providing more quality and highly requested class offerings. Community Education will continue to provide personal and professional development with senior specific programs, classes for career and job readiness, or those who are in search of a hobby.
Classes fill up quickly and participants are encouraged to register on-site August 11 at the Open House or through the website, Nashville.gov/CE. All courses are conveniently offered at Cohn Adult Learning Center, with exception of a few specialty programs held at Sunset Grill. Community Education also welcomes instructor candidates that would like to share their skills, interests and talents with our thriving community.
